An overturned truck and the hazardous materials spilled by the truck have halted westbound traffic on State Road 826 between Northwest 27th and 37th Avenues.
Cleanup efforts following the accident just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Miami Gardens have reduced eastbound traffic flow from three to two lanes. Motorists should use Miami Gardens Drive or perhaps Northwest 119th Street and then the Gratigny Expressway for east-west travel in North Miami-Dade.
Alejandro Camacho, Lt. Florida Highway Patrol said the tractor trailer was actually traveling on the east side of the Palmetto when the driver lost control, hit the concrete median and went over the wall onto the westbound lanes.
This is an evolving story and will be updated.
